A man pulled the emergency alarm on a train because he missed his stop.

The British Transport Police (BTP) said that on Saturday, a male passenger had been travelling on the 23.20 train from Blackburn to Manchester Victoria, when he pulled the passenger communication alarm.

The train had been travelling at a speed of 70mph, but came to a rapid halt close to Burnley.

A spokesperson for the BTP said: "Once the train had stopped the man opened the doors and jumped down onto the tracks. All because he had missed his stop."

Officers from the BTP were called to attend the incident, which is now under investigation, and the man is being interviewed regarding his actions.
