STAFF at a sports and social club are celebrating after winning a prestigious award for their real ale.

Sydney Street Sports and Social Club in Accrington have won the 2019 CAMRA club of the year award for Hyndburn.

Bar manager, Danny McNeillie, 22, said: “We’ve won this award a few times, with the last time being in 2017.”

The club sells a range of bitters and real ales and has three guest ales on tap that are rotated on a regular basis.

Other East Lancs club winners were Cherry Tree Cricket Club in Blackburn, Molly Rigby’s in Padiham, Barnoldswick Working Men’s Club, Waddington Club in Waddington, and Whitworth Vale and Healey Band Club.

CAMRA is a consumer organisation that was founded in 1971 and stands for Campaign for Real Ale.

It represents nearly 200,000 members across the UK and aims to see good quality real ale, cider and perry in thriving pubs and clubs across all communities.

Mr McNeillie added: “We’re judged on the quality of our ale and how we look after it so to win this award again is great for our customers and really reflects how well our staff are doing.”
