FOOTBALL and curry lovers will be able to enjoy an evening of entertainment as England hero, John Barnes comes to town.

Barnsey, who won 79 caps for England, cemented his legendary status among fans after performing the John Barnes rap as part of the official England 1990 World Cup song.

And on Friday he will be guest of honour at East Z East, as the restaurant celebrates the launch of a new menu.

Director of the Northgate restaurant, Waseem Hamid, who lives in Nelson, said: "John Barnes will be around throughout the night and will be signing shirts as well as performing his famous rap.

"We've got a new menu launching with lots of new dishes including curries and starters, and a new team of staff too.

"And anyone who dines with us on the night will get 20 percent off all food.

"We open at 5pm and there'll be a live DJ and entertainment from 7pm, and a chance to meet John and chat to him."

The evening will take place on Friday April 26 from 7pm.
