ASTLEY GATE in 1966, where cobbled streets led to some of Blackburn's favourite and old shops.
One of these was Little Sheffield, a hardware store that had a more branches in East Lancashire. In the same area was The Swann Hotel for many years.
Now, all the shops including the chip shop and Gold Flakes no longer exist, but it has since been the popular place for shops such as Debenhams, which is part of the Mall, a pub called The Sun, electronic cigarette shops, a hair salon called Heiress and The Chippery turning into Corporation Street.
Traffic still comes through the road as heavy as before.
