THIRTY hardy members of Blackburn Road Runners made it around 26.2 miles of Manchester, benefitting a number of good causes.

Eleven from the club completed their first marathon in the city and a number enjoyed the experience so much they have signed up for 2020.

One runner was Harry Catherall, the outgoing Blackburn with Darwen Council chief executive, who went around in three hours and 43 minutes and raised more than £900 for his chosen charity, Fight Like A Kid.

Another 27 club stalwarts are also committed to tackling the London Marathon on April 27. with 11 pledging charity sponsorship.

The club will be dispatching two pacers, whose job it will to help runners achieve personal best times.
