A WOMAN suffered a head injury when she fell down an escalator at The Mall in Blackburn.
Paramedics were called to the exit near PureGym and the bus station, at 12.20pm yesterday.
An ambulance service spokeswoman said: “Paramedics were called after a woman in her 60s had fallen.
“She has suffered a head injury.”
A screen was put up around The Mall exit while the woman was tended to.
A second woman fell at The Mall from midway up the escalator going into the market at 1.20pm.
Lauren Berry, a student physician associate, stopped to help her.
She said: “I checked her over and she had suffered a cut to her knee.
“She was shook up but had no serious injuries.”
Loraine Jones, general manager at The Mall said: “Our first responder team was called to an incident at our Ainsworth Street entrance just before 12.20pm.
“It emerged that one of our visitors had suffered an unfortunate fall on one of the escalators.
“An ambulance attended and the entrance was briefly closed to allow the crew to treat the lady before she was taken to hospital. We wish her a speedy recovery."
