STAFF at The Bureau Centre for the Arts have been able to make a temporary home in Blackburn's town centre following a disastrous fire.

The Making Rooms in Exchange Street has offered office space to the group while they find a more permanent home.

This comes as a large fire ripped through the former St John the Evangelist Church in Victoria Street last week.

Up to 70 officers battled with the fire.

Kerris Casey-St Pierre, of the centre, said: "The Making Rooms has kindly given us a base which has allowed us to work and start the process of getting back into our old home.

"We've had so much support from so many people, including The Exchange which took on a lot of what we could salvage from the blaze.

"The community and the council have both been fantastic and we've had lots of help.

"We want to get back to our home as soon as possible and we are at the start of a long journey."
