A FASHION show at a mall took place to celebrate and encourage diversity and community ethos.

Samina Mahmood, organised the event at the Fashion Mall 300 in Accrington to promote cohesion among the community and positivity.

There were two fashion catwalks at the event, with girls in traditional Asian dress. Various stalls included henna, traditional Indian snacks, clothing, and face-painting.

Mrs Mahmood, 47, from Accrington said: “I feel these events are great for bringing enjoyment, Entertainment and much needed positive atmosphere to Hyndburn as a whole.

"It is important that a lot of ladies that are feeling lonely can come and take part. People who hadn't seen each other and a chance for new businesses to come together. A lot of the Asian community does their own thing, so this brings them out.

"There was a good turnout, it was really full during the first show especially. There was music and people were really enjoying themselves."

Miss Lancashire finalist, Asma Ahad was also at the event, along with the Mayor of Hyndburn, Mohammed Ayub, and Mayoress Noreen Hussain.

The next event will be held before Eid-Ul-Fitr for Chand Raat, which celebrates a new moon in the Islamic Calendar.
