POLICE who went to a Rishton address on another matter discovered two cannabis plants growing in a cupboard.
Blackburn magistrates heard they also discovered a tray of small plants which all appeared to be dead.
Alex Thomas Adamou, 29, of High Street, Rishton, pleaded guilty to producing cannabis. He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £85 costs and £29 victim surcharge.
Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said police went to an address on Clifton Street to speak to Adamou about another matter. They discovered the plants in a cupboard and there was a lighting and ventilation system in place.
"It was only a small amount of cannabis but clearly there was equipment in place for the production," said Miss Allan.
Jonathan Taylor, defending, said his client was trying to save money by growing his own cannabis.
"He knows it is time he made sure he has no further involvement with the drug," said Mr Taylor.
