LAURYN Hill has been revealed as the first headline act for this summer's Livewire Festival on Blackpool's Headland.

Originally coming to prominence with the Fugees, she has become one of the world's most successful female solo artists - her album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill earned a record-breaking five Grammy Awards.

Livewire will run from Thursday, August 22 to Sunday, August 25 and Lauryn Hill will headline the Saturday night.

Last year's festival was cancelled due to the ill-health of key personnel. A spokesperson for Blackpool Council said: “We are delighted to see the return of Livewire. It promises to deliver a feast of live entertainment to the Tower Festival Headland and adds yet another dimension to a brilliant programme of events lined up for Blackpool this summer.”

Anyone who purchased tickets to last year’s festival can email info@livewirefestival with their name and address to receive a code that will remove all booking fees for this year’s festival for a limited time only.

The other headline acts and full line-ups will be revealed over the coming weeks.

Tickets for Lauryn Hill go on sale ay 10am on Friday from www.ticketmaster.co.uk
