A TIRELESS campaigner for victim's rights has spoken of his pride after being handed his MBE by Prince William.

And plaudits came from across the country for John Clough, from Higherford, after the ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

Supported by his wife Penny, who was given the same recognition at the start of 2013, they have lobbied far and wide in memory of their murdered daughter Jane.

Their change.org petition for a stalkers register, begun jointly with the family of Kirsty Treloar, has topped the 167,000 signature mark to date.

Jane was stabbed to the death by her former partner Jonathan Vass in 2010 after he had pursued her to Blackpool Victoria Hospital, where she worked as a nurse.

John said, after his investiture, that he was "honoured" to be summoned to the Palace.

He added: "It was an amazing day and I am so thankful to my family for all the love and support over recent years that made this possible.

"This is a result of the work we have done as Jane's legacy."
