AN appeal has been issued after a cyclist was left with serious injuries while riding along an East Lancashire country lane.

Police say the rider, aged 69, was travelling along Stoneygate Lane, in Knowle Green, on a Cannondale Synapse bike when a collision is thought to have occurred.

The cyclist, who lives in Rishton, is said to have suffered 'life-changing injuries', the exact nature of which have not been confirmed by investigators.

He was taken by ambulance to the Royal Preston Hospital for treatment following the incident, which took place around 100 metres north of the junction with Higher Road, at around 10.40am on Thursday.

Sgt Steve Hardman, of Lancashire Police's tactical operations department, said: "This collision has left a man with some very serious injuries and I would appeal to any witnesses or anyone who has any dashcam footage to get in touch."
