MORE than £2,000 was raised to support a charity raising awareness of the dangers of alcohol-fuelled violence.

Comedian Dave Spikey and BBC Masterchef’s Moonira Hinglotwala took part in the Every Action Has Consequences event at Greenbank Police Station.

The charity was set up by Dave and Pat Rogers following the death of their son, Adam, in Blackburn.

The 24-year-old, of Dukes Brow, Blackburn, died after being punched in the head near the Gladstone memorial, in Northgate, Blackburn, in July 2009, during a night out with friends.

Ms Hinglotwala judged several cakes baked by officers while Mr Spikey performed a short stand-up slot and picked out the raffle winners.

Mr Spikey said: “In my line of work you get asked to do a lot of charity events and sadly I can’t do them all but sometimes one really sticks out to you.

“As a father myself this struck a cord with me and I really wanted to come here today.

“It’s a great event and everyone has done amazingly well to raise so much money.”
