BREXITEER MP Nigel Evans said Theresa May's successor as Tory leader must 'heal wounds'.

He spoke today as Westminster geared up for a new debate on leaving the EU after the Prime Minister promised to quit if it backed her deal.

Ribble Valley MP Mr Evans joined Rossendale and Darwen and Pendle Conservative colleagues Jake Berry and Andrew Stephenson in backing a 'No Deal' option if Mrs May's proposal fails.

Blackburn's Kate Hollern and fellow Labour MPs Graham Jones (Hyndburn) and Julie Cooper (Burnley) voted against 'No Deal' in Wednesday's ballot on eight alternatives.

As an official of the 1922 Committee of Conservative backbench MPs he will help administer the vote.
