A father-of-two young boys, who left a video for his family, was found hanged in his own home an inquest heard.

Andrew Cook, 33, was found dead by his father, in his house in Blackburn, on October 28.

The inquest heard that on the morning of his death Mr Cook had been visiting his parents house but had left at 10.45, telling them he was 'going out to get something'.

When he didn't return, his father became worried and went over to his house in Farrington Close, but found the door to be locked and his car in the drive.

Forcing entry to the property, Mr Cook found his son hanging at the top of the stairs.

Coroner Richard Taylor said: "In a letter from his GP, Dr Salim, he noted that Mr Cook had no known mental health issues but had previously been to see a colleague regarding stress at work and was given some sleeping pills.

"It is thought there had been some problems in his relationship and it is believed he had said to his mother that it would be easier and better for everyone if he 'just disappeared and let everyone forget about him'."

Speaking during the inquest, Mr Cook's mother, Jennifer Cook, said that despite her son making these comments, he'd made it clear he 'wouldn't do anything stupid', and she thought he meant he just wanted to leave the area.

His father, Colin Cook said: "He had a good job and used to be a personal trainer but he had a lot of problems with his partner.

"We thought he was pulling himself together and he was due to start a new job on the Monday.

"If anyone was to speak to him they wouldn't have known he had any mental health problems."

After his death, Mr Cook said he'd found a video on his laptop, left by his son, showing the family with happy smiling faces.

Mr Cook added: "He'd been to see everyone in the weeks before his death, in his own way this was him saying goodbye. It seemed like he'd made his mind up and resigned himself to the fact that he was going to do this.

"He'll be missed be a lot of people, including his children."

Concluding the hearing, Mr Taylor recorded a verdict of suicide.
