EAST Lancashire's stay-at-home parents could earn more than £200,000 for the minimum of eight jobs each performs for their children.

A new calculation has put together the hourly rates for being the chef, the cleaner, the assistant, the taxi-driver, the nurse, the teacher, the psychologist, and the laundry washer and turned them into an estimated annual salary,

In Blackburn a stay-at-home parent could earn an annual average of £219,827 according to the estimate worked out by the special pre-Mothers' Day exercise by online personalised greetings card and gift firm Funky Pigeon.

In Darwen the estimated salary is £221,343 and in Accrington £221,564.

The figure for Burnley is £215,313, for Clitheroe £235,525 and for Rawtenstall £210,765.

A spokeswoman for Funky Pigeon said: "We looked into eight ‘jobs’ embraced when one enters the world of parenting; cooking, cleaning, taxi-ing, caring, nursing, organising, educating and emotional supporting."
