A NUISANCE who was banned from the area surrounding Blackburn police station was arrested when he was found sitting in the police station reception area.
Blackburn magistrates heard Keiron McKillop claimed he had gone to the Ainsworth Street station to make a complaint following an assault on him.
McKillop, 26, of De Lacy House, Preston New Road, pleaded guilty to breach of an anti-social behaviour order. He was made subject to a curfew between 7 pm and 7 am for four weeks, fined £110 and ordered to pay £115 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
"Rarely will the police have an easier case to investigate," said Carl Gaffney, prosecuting. "They found the defendant sitting in the police station reception area which he is prohibited from doing by an ant-social behaviour order. He didn't cause them any problems when they spoke to him and arrested him."
Mark Williams, defending, said the order was taken out by the police to keep him away from them rather than members of the public.
"The exclusion is the area around the police station and the police were simply fed up of him wasting their time," said Mr Williams. "He says he had been assaulted and he went to the police station to make a complaint. He caused lttle harm or distress, he was simply sitting in the waiting area."
