A BRA manufacturing company had some uplifting news in 1982 when a £250,000 expansion plan meant more jobs for people in Pendle.
The Swedish owned Swegmark (Nelson) Ltd, planned to extend its factory and create 30 new jobs at its site in Colne, by increasing the size of its cutting room, as well as it's storage space.
Around 40,000 bras and 8,000 pairs of briefs were produced by the firm every week, with the biggest buyer being the Littlewoods chain store.
And in 1981, four percent of the production was exported to France, with ten percent expected to be sent to there by the end of the year.
Pictured getting his hands on one of the bras is the Mayor of Pendle, Harry Hardacre, who visited the factory to take a closer look at the production.
