AN optician in Blackburn has been nominated for a family-orientated national award.
Nazmeen Ahmed, who works for AJ Spurrett, in Richmond Terrace, is waiting to hear if she has scooped the Family Optician of the Year title at the Optician Awards.
Miss Ahmed, a director there, said: "It is recognition of the importance we place on providing a high-quality service for patients of all ages and also in employing family values in the way we run our company."
Some of the initiatives run by the Valli group firm include dry eye management and home visits for older patients and a child health project involving 4,000 local school pupils.
She will find out, along with colleagues, whether they have been successful at the finals in Birmingham this Saturday.
