A pre-loved dress and suit shop has been set-up at a high school to help students enjoy their prom, without breaking the bank.

Maths teacher at Blessed Trinity Roman Catholic College in Burnley, Melanie Arcangelo, decided to introduce the pop-up shop in order to help reduce the cost of the end of year ball for parents.

Students will be able to choose from a range of pre-loved suits and prom dresses, as well as jewellery and shoes, all for a £20 hire charge, which will then go into the 2019 prom fund.

Mrs Arcangelo said: "Proms can be an expensive time for parents, guardians and students, so we've asked people to donate dresses which could be used for the prom which were just hidden away and never used again.

"People have been generous and we have already got a number of dresses but hope to receive more.

"Our textile department will be able to alter them so we will cater for every shape and size. There is also shoes and jewellery as well."

The school's prom takes place at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel on July 1, so pupils have plenty of time to get their outfits.

Mrs Arcangelo added: "Any students wanting to visit the shop need to see Miss Brady at the school and she will arrange for them to view and try on any dresses or suits that they want to."
