MORE views are being sought to help shape a plan which could see as many as 2,000 new homes built in Huncoat.

A consultation was launched into the Huncoat Garden Village scheme last year and now Hyndburn Council is asking for further views to form the vision, design and development of the scheme.

The masterplan includes the provision for new housing, employment opportunities, and new local amenities.

The latest consultation follows an initial stage in November on the plans and options.

People will be able to find out more about the Garden Village proposal as well as look and comment on the current masterplan.

Information will also be available about the review of Hyndburn’s Local Plan, which is currently under ay, and explain the relationship between the Garden Village masterplan and the work on updating the Local Plan.

An online consultation will be run on the Huncoat Garden Village website at huncoatgardenvillage.co.uk until April 3.

Public consultation events are being held on Tuesday (March 26) at Huncoat primary school between 3.30pm and 8pm and Saturday (March 30) at St Augustine Church from 10am to 4pm.

Leader of the council, Cllr Miles Parkinson, said: “Our draft Garden Village masterplan for Huncoat is a major growth opportunity for Hyndburn, building on the strengths of the existing village, it presents a range of opportunities which will benefit both existing and new residents.

“The council wants the local community to help shape the development proposals for the existing village and future community.

“Understanding residents’ concerns and aspirations are vitally important in developing a successful Garden Village.”
