THE manager of Cash Generator in Accrington failed a breathalyser when he was stopped on his way home from watching football in the pub with his boss.

Blackburn magistrates heard Lee Burrows was only marginally over the limit but stood to be disqualified for three years because of a previous conviction.

Burrows, 36, of Livesey Branch Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

He was fined £300 with £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge. He was banned for three years after the magistrates were told he was inside the 10 year period since his last conviction for excess alcohol.

Helen Farnsworth, defending, said Burrows had been to meet his boss and he had drunk three pints while watching football.

"It was over about four hours and he had eaten and he didn't think he would be over the limit," said Mrs Farnsworth. "He is the manager of Cash Generator in Accrington and has been overseeing the shop in Bradford as well. He believes he may lose his job."
