A SHOPLIFTER who decided to "try his luck" twice stole electrical goods from Boots.

Blackburn magistrates heard both incidents were caught on CCTV and on the day that was reviewed and Shaun Clark identified he came into the shop again.

Clark, 27, of Clement Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to stealing two Phillips epilators worth £375 on one occasion and a Phillips razor and a Braun epilator worth £380 on the second. He was ordered to pay a total of £855 compensation.

Tracy Yates, prosecuting, said when he was detained at the store he said on both occasions he had been passing and decided to try his luck.

Jonathan Taylor, defending, had a problem with certain prescribed drugs, such as valium, and occasional recreational use of cocaine.

"It has crept up on him and he thought he didn't have much of a problem," said Mr Taylor.

"He now realises that he needs some help."
