TWO men broke into a disused factory looking for leftovers after hearing the building had been used as a cannabis farm.
Blackburn magistrates heard the police had beaten Christopher Smedley and his mate to it and removed all the drugs.
Smedley, 30, of Lydia Street, Accrington, pleaded guilty to being found on enclosed premises. He was given a conditional discharge for six months and ordered to pay £985 costs and £30 victim surcharge.
Alex Mann, prosecuting, said the factory on Hacking Street, Darwen, was boarded up and derelict.
"The defendant and his co-accused told police they were there because at one point it had been used as a cannabis factory and they got it into their minds to see if there was any left over," said Mrs Mann.
Gareth Price, defending, said it was not a sophisticated offence.
"He was told there was cannabis in the building but when they went in there was nothing there for them," said Mr Price. "Clearly, the police had removed everything."
