THE first commercial tenant for a £100million business and industrial estate near a motorway junction has been announced.

Hyndburn supplier of dryers, ovens and coolers to industry Tek-Dry Systems Limited, will take almost half of the 135,000 square foot Pioneer Court warehouse at Frontier Park on the borough’s border with Blackburn.

The firm will create 30 news jobs on the flagship development near the Whitebirk junction six of the M65 while keeping their existing premises on Altham Business Park.

Their 61,000 square foot section of the new warehouse will be ready next month with the 185,000 warehouse FP1 almost finished.

Frontier Park is already home to a set of services including a petrol station, Spar and Subway shops, a drive-thru Greggs, Starbucks and a KFC.

In January it was announced the development would host a Hampton by Hilton hotel with 150 rooms and conference facilities for 1,400 delegates.

Tek-Dry sales director Scott Thompson said: “This move marks a significant milestone in the progression of the company.”

Alex Kenwright, Frontier Park development manager, said “We are delighted to welcome Tek-Dry, a fantastic Lancashire-based company. Since the turn of the year, we have seen the level of enquiries rise dramatically and we look forward to announcing more deals over the coming months.”

Hyndburn Council leader Cllr Miles Parkinson said: “It is Euro-Garages starting to deliver their promise of jobs for the borough and the East Lancashire motorway corridor.”

Caroline James, managing director of letting agent Trevor Dawson said: “This is a significant moment for the scheme.”

Blackburn with Darwen Council regeneration boss Cllr Phil Riley said: “This good news with implications for jobs and prosperity in the borough.”

When completed in 2022, Frontier Park have five units and aims to create 2,000 jobs.
