A VOLUNTEER group has taken over the running of The Old Coach House in Oswaldtwistle’s Rhyddings Park.

The move follows Bootstrap Enterprises withdrawing its plan to take over running its cafe.

Now The Friends of Rhyddings Park has taken on the building’s lease

The group already runs the café on Saturday and Sunday lunchtimes but will now open it on Mondays and on Wednesdays during school holidays.

The move comes after the completion of a £2million Heritage Lottery project to refurbish Rhyddings Park and restore the old Coach House. Since the completion of the restoration in August thousand of people have attended events in the Park and hundreds visited the cafe.

The Friends of Rhyddings Park have organised numerous events in The Coach House including qigong, yoga, camera club, watercolour painting, wizard workshops, sports walking, mums and baby groups, children’s parties, tapas nights and comedy.

Ann Warrington, chair of the Friends of Rhyddings Park, said; “ We cannot wait until the fresh, park-grown vegetables are available for us to cook in the café.”
