NEIGHBOURS were left in shock after a car ploughed into three parked cars in the early hours.

Debbie Redhead said her neighbours in Preston Old Road, Blackburn, were woken to the sound of a BMW smashing head on into a silver Vauxhall Corsa at around 2am.

Lancashire Telegraph:

The crashed caused the Corsa to shunt into the blue Kia parked behind it, which went into the front of a white Volkswagen up!

Mrs Redhead, 39, who owns the Volkswagen car, said she did not wake up to the initial crash, but was alerted to the incident by her neighbour.

Mrs Redhead, 39, who owns the Volkswagen car, said she did not wake up to the initial crash, but was alerted to the incident by her neighbour.

The meditation teacher, who has lived in the road for 15 years, said: “I couldn’t believe the cars were damaged so badly.

“The police came and spoke to the BMW driver before his dad picked him up and took him to hospital to be checked over.

“I’m pleased no one was in the cars at the time or walking past when it happened.

“I need my car as I run my own business. I have rung my insurers and are going through the process now.”

Lancashire Telegraph:

The Corsa was so badly damaged its engine and other main components were completely exposed.

Lots of oil could be seen in the road and a large puddle had appeared at the junction of Cartmel Road.

Lancashire Telegraph:

Pieces of the cars could be seen near the pavement. The cars had been taped off by police.

Lots of traffic had slowed down during rush hour to catch a glimpse of the wreckage.

A Land Rover also suffered some damage to its front licence plate and bumper.

Mrs Redhead said: “We don’t know how the crash happened but this road is known for bad driving and lots of cars do not follow the layout properly.

Traffic does build up at rush hour and becomes bottlenecked.

“I saw a lorry driver stop in the road to take a picture this morning which I thought was pretty dangerous.”

A police spokesman said officers were called but no one suffered any serious injuries.
