PUB bosses are still searching for a new licensee to run a pub which has been closed since New Year's Day.

The Adelphi in Railway Road, Blackburn, closed twice in 2016, and once in 2017 due to refurbishment, and also closed temporarily for maintenance work in April last year.

But its reopening proved short-lived and now bosses are on the hunt for another new licensee.

A spokesperson for Admiral Taverns said: “We have recently made an investment into the licensee premises at the Adelphi.

“We are actively employing our best efforts to recruit a new licensee for the pub, who is focused on re-instating the Adelphi into the local community.”

The pub is opposite Cathedral Square, which includes coffee chain Starbucks, Café Northcote, Turtle Bay Caribbean Social, and A Mano Italian restaurant.

Admiral bosses say the pub trades from a central bar servicing the large open plan lounge with an area for pool and darts as well as zoned areas that can offer a quieter place to enjoy the atmosphere.

The description adds: “On entering, the bar servery is located to the left side of the pub and is surrounded by plenty of seating and can cater for up to 60 people.

“There is also a games area to the left of the pub with a pool table and darts area. The catering kitchen is located behind the bar and is partly equipped.

“The pub is in good condition however the new licensee may wish to put their own stamp on the pub.

“The Adelphi should be a popular community local and a well known stop on the town centre circuit.

“We are looking for applicants who have knowledge of the local area with the skills, passion and drive required to re-kindle the pub back to its former trading levels.

“There may be scope to develop the upstairs facilities currently not used at the outlet as either a function room or letting accommodation.”

Last year, borough regeneration boss Cllr Phil Riley called on Admiral Taverns to recognise the potential in the area and said the pub should be marketed to take advantage of the development around Cathedral Square.
