NEW national and regional presenters have been announced to replace 2BR's East Lancashire based DJs.

Few details have been released concerning the new Capital Lancashire station, which will take over the airwaves from April 8.

But Roman Kemp, son of ex-Eastender Martin Kemp and 80s singer Shirlie Holliman, has been unveiled as the new breakfast host for the national Capital network.

And Rob Ellis, Rachel Burke-Davis and Wingman, are taking over the drivetime slot for Capital in Lancashire and Manchester.

Currently Tatum McGreal and Mike Graveston present 2BR's breakfast programme and Olly Holdsworth has the late afternoon berth.

Radio giants Global are rejigging their schedules nationwide and are understood to be closing the 2BR studio in Clayton-le-Moors.

But bosses have refused to confirm how many jobs are in jeopardy at the Hyndburn site, and where their 'local' news and travel bulletins will be produced from.

Ashley Tabor, founder and executive president of Global, said: "This is a historic moment for Capital, Global, the commercial radio sector and for Roman and the team personally."

Critics though say local radio jobs are being sacrificed for London-based output.
