Police are appealing for witnesses after a 70-year-old man was rushed to hospital following an accident on one of the county's most dangerous roads.
Emergency services were called to the A59 near the Sawley Brow junction at around 12.45pm on Tuesday, after a smash between a car and a bike.
The road was closed for several hours in both directions as paramedics treated the man and transported him to the Royal Preston hospital.
A police spokesman said: "We were called at around 12.45pm to reports of a collision between a Vauxhall Corsa and a bicycle.
"The road was closed in both directions and a man was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital."
The cyclist suffered injuries to his face and was taken to hospital via ambulance.
The driver of the Vauxhall was not injured.
Sergeant Paul Maguire of Lancashire’s Road Policing Unit, said: “A man has been injured and our thoughts are with him at this time.
“If you were in the area around the time of the collision and have any useful information or dash cam footage please get in touch with us.”
