What are your memories of the shops in the town centre from more than 15 years ago?

The town centre is currently undergoing a revamp with new plans in place for the market square.

A huge peregrine falcon statue will be at the heart of the £1.5 million transformation of Darwen's market square.

The project is expected to be completed in spring and at the centre will be a peregrine falcon made of woven copper and sculpted by renowned artist, Liam Hopkins.

It is set to be unveiled as part of an official opening of the new square – marking the end of a year of work to transform the area.

Once completed, the area will boast three distinct areas – a large formal market square which will be big enough to host large outdoor events, an area of landscaping with seated areas and the potential for new shops in the larger refurbished units under Railway Road.

How do you think Darwen has changed over the years? Is it better now or are there fewer good shops these days?
