A MOTORIST was found to be drug driving after police responded to a report of erratic driving from a member of the public.
Blackburn magistrates heard when he was stopped at 7.30am Rizwan Hussain was over the limit for cocaine and its derivative, benzoylecgonine.
Hussain, 22, of Chapel House Road, Nelson, pleaded guilty to driving over the limit for both drugs.
He was banned from driving for 12 months and fined £120 with £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
Parveen Akhtar, prosecuting, said police were speaking to Hussain when they noticed a cannabis grinder in his car.
"He was asked if he had been using drugs and he admitted using cannabis and cocaine," said Miss Akhtar.
A drug swipe proved positive and subsequent blood analysis revealed a cocaine level of 15 against the legal limit of 10 and a benzoylecgonine level of 800 against the limit of 50.
Nick Cassidy, defending, said his client's family were ashamed of his behaviour when he told them of his arrest in September.
"They had a family meeting and he explained the problems he had with drugs," said Mr Cassidy.
"He then went to Pakistan and has returned completely drug free."
