HARD-working men can be seen in this photograph removing tram tracks at the junction of Gunsmith Lane and Yorkshire Street in Burnley.
In 1936 the lines were made redundant with the town's abandonment of tramways the previous year.
In the background we can see the old Keirby Brewery.
On the left hand side part of the Yorkshire Hotel can be seen.
In the centre the old Rishton Mill is visible, before it was demolished months later to make way for the Odeon Cinema, which opened in 1937.
Burnley Corporation Tramways operated a tramway service in Burnley between 1901 and 1935.
The first converted tram route from Burnley to Padiham opened in December 1901, with a route to Rosegrove opening in 1903, a route to Towneley in 1904 and a route to Nelson in 1902.
