A YOUNG man drove off after a car crash in Blackburn, it has been claimed.

The driver of one of the vehicles was snapped by a resident who heard the smash on Shear Bank Road on Friday.

The incident happened on Shear Bank Road in Blackburn on Friday.

The driver of the black vehicle contacted this newspaper about the smash.

He is hoping the other driver will now come forward to police.

The pictures have been blurred until we verify the claims.

Police are investigating the incident too. No one was injured in the crash.

The driver said: “I was travelling down Shear Bank Road in Blackburn at approximately 3.20pm.

“Then this car pulled out of the give way and went into the side of me.

“There were two people in the car – the passenger was younger.

“They both came out to me and said: “What has happened here? Let’s park up and sort it out. I believed they thought I would park up but I couldn’t move the car."

He added: “They started reversing their car and then parked up.

“As the resident decided to take a closer picture and opened the car door - they drove off.

“As you can see my car was quite badly damaged. It has been a huge nuisance.

“It is lucky I was not going faster. I travel on that route regularly and always drive carefully.”

Police said they were called to the crash but that one of the vehicles left before officers arrived.

A spokesman said: “We were called to a collision on Shear Bank Road, Blackburn, at around 3.25pm yesterday.

“One of the vehicles left prior to our arrival. Enquiries are ongoing.”
