THE seaside town of Blackpool wouldn’t have known what hit it, when more than 600 workers from a Blackburn brewery descended on the resort on Saturday May 10 1969.

As part of Dutton Brewery’s annual trip, the hard-working staff were treated to a breakfast at Dutton Houses in the Ribble Valley, followed by a magnificent lunch at Blackpool’s famous Winter Gardens.

In the afternoon, a bowls tournament was organised, which saw the workers put into teams and pitted against each other.

Prizes were then presented at The Spanish Hall during tea.

But the highlight of the trip was most likely the evening event – a visit to the famous Blackpool Tower ballroom complete with a fish and chip supper on the way home.
