TEN years ago teenage singing sensation Diana Vickers was embarking on the famous X Factor tour.

The 17-year-old from Accrington had wowed TV audiences with her quirky performances and had been a favourite to win the show.

She eventually finished fourth, under mentor Cheryl Cole in the 2008 series, and would go on to record a number one single – Once a year later.

These pictures from earlier in the series – screened in October of that year – show Diana performing in front of judges Cheryl, Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh.

They also show her speaking to host Dermot O'Leary.

More recently, the former Westholme pupil, now 27,h as become better known for her stage performances.

Since her breakthrough appearance on the reality singing show, she's won a West End theatre award, had both a number one single and album and appeared in a number of high profile shows around the UK.

In 2017 she appeared in Son of a Preacher Man which came to Manchester’s Palace Theatre.

And she told the Lancashire Telegraph that acting was now her passion.

“That’s what I really want to focus on,” she said. “I would love to do more TV and film. I love doing comedy but I also want to do more drama. I just want to learn and get better as an actor.”
