I WAS born and bred in Preston New Road 85 years ago next month, and although I had to move away when I joined the army, I have always been a Rovers supporter through thick and thin albeit at a distance (the last match I saw was at Wembley when we lost , courtesy of Derek Dougan’s disloyalty and Whelan’s broken leg, suffered in the days before substitutes).

However the inconsistency of the team this year has been heartbreaking and there is a good argument for “payment by results”. If you win you get a bonus if you draw you do not and if you lose you have some of your bloated salaries paid to a local charity.

In a phrase “get a grip” - three straight losses after three straight wins is unacceptable.
