A SUPER slimmer has managed to shed more than seven stone in one year.

Jodie Blake dropped from 16st 13lbs to 9st 12½lbs after she joined a Slimming World group at Turf Moor and St Cuthbert’s Community Hall in Burnley.

The 20-year-old ditched high calorie fatty foods and swapped them for healthier, leaner wholefoods.

Jodie now tries to be as active as possible and embarked on a 84-mile walk along Hadrian’s Wall over six days in July with her father.

Miss Blake joined the slimming group in January 2018, and is encouraging other people eat a more balanced diet.

Miss Blake said: “I always thought losing weight meant not eating very much or cutting out all your favourite meals.

“How wrong was I? Thanks to the Slimming World plan, and picking up ideas shared by other members in group, I’ve learned loads about food and cooking.

“I can still enjoy burgers and chips, spaghetti bolognese and curries.

“I don’t think I could have achieved everything I have without the slimming group.

“Life’s completely different for me now and I’m so grateful to Slimming World for that – and proud of myself too.”

Miss Blake was nominated by her St Cuthbert’s slimming group to represent Burnley in the Young Slimmer of the Year 2019 competition.

The next stage of the contest could see Miss Blake invited to the semi-finals at Slimming World’s head office in Derbyshire in March.

The overall winners of the competition will take home a £3,000 prize.

Caroline Griffiths, from Slimming World, said: “Jodie is certainly a huge inspiration.

“She’s learned healthy habits that will stay with her for life, so worrying about her weight is definitely a thing of the past," Caroline added.

“There have been so many stories in the news about child obesity recently and we know that young people desperately need help and support to make changes.”
