A VOLUNTEER has set up a diabetes group to offer the chance to people living with the condition to get active.
Sue Riley, 69, from Clitheroe, was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in 2006.
After making lifestyle changes and finding that running helped her manage her condition, she has now set up the 'Outrun Diabetes' group.
She said: "I started making lifestyle changes and found that running helped me manage my condition. I started with short distances and have gradually increased my running ability, but Iām no sprinter. I want to create a relaxed running group where people with diabetes can feel comfortable and can access peer support.ā
The Clitheroe running group for people with diabetes or those at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes, will run every Tuesday and Sunday morning.
The first run is on Tuesday, February 19 at Clitheroe Castle gates from 10-11am.
