A GRANDMOTHER who was caught shoplifting in Marks & Spencer on Christmas Eve had 'nothing to look forward to' over the festive period.

Kimberley Jayne O'Horo was arrested after she was seen on CCTV trying to leave the Burnley supermarket with a trolley full of food worth £157.

Burnley Magistrates Court heard how the 46-year-old was trying to steal the food as she had none at home.

Prosecuting the case, Tracy Yates, said: “The camera operator watched as a female loaded items into the trolley and made her way to the back door.

"An accomplice was waiting for her there."

Defending O’Horo, Dylan Bradshaw said: “My client was having trouble with her benefits, it was Christmas Eve and she had no money, no food and nothing to look forward to.”

O’Horo was ordered to pay total costs and compensation of £231and was given a curfew from 8pm - 7am.

Magistrates warned her that any reoffending could land her in prison.
