A CHORLEY nightclub is to re-open on Saturday after a £60k transformation.

Paul Thompson and Asim Gulzar are the new owners of Applejax in Chorley and they are working to get the nightclub ready for a re-opening party on Saturday night at 11.30pm.

Mr Thompson runs the Lost nightclub on Fazackerley Street and he has a vision that both clubs can help breathe new life into Chorley’s nightlife.

The 33-year-old said: “I am quite excited about it.

“I have grown up in Chorley and AJ’s has been a timeless classic so it is good to bring it back to life.

“I remember going for nights out and you would often end up in AJ’s time and again.”

Among the main changes are an end to the carpet, and moving the position of the DJ booth.

Mr Thompson said: “We have gone for an industrial theme and stripped it back to the bare walls.

"We are on track to open on Saturday night at 11.30pm.

“There will be no celebs opening it as the people of Chorley are celebs enough to open it.

“I grew up here and used to have a decent pub crawl and it would be good to get back to those days in Chorley hopefully with Lost and AJs we can do that.

Fellow owner Asim Gulzar added: “It is an exciting time in Chorley with the new cinema coming to town and the development.

“We wanted to keep things that everyone loves about AJs and then improve the aesthetics of it too.”
