A MAN who had been drinking pulled alongside a police car, wound down his window and admitted drink driving.

Blackburn magistrates heard the incident was even more bizarre because Mohammed Gujar had called the police and arranged to meet them at his home.

Gujar, 43, of St Frances Close, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol on January 19.

He was banned from driving for 12 months and fined £80 with £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said police arrived outside the defendant's home for a pre-arranged meeting.

He wasn't there but when he was contacted said he was on the Asda car park and would be there in a few minutes.

"When he arrived he pulled alongside the police car and admitted he had been drinking while driving," said Miss Allan.

"He then parked his car, got out and invited the officers to arrest him."

Police found an empty bottle of vodka on the back seat of his Toyota Auris.

Imran Hussain, defending, said his client had displayed an unusual level of honesty.

"He had contacted the police and reported threats being received from other people," said Mr Hussain.

"This was completely out of character."
