A TEENAGER who turned up on his mum's doorstep with his suitcase kicked off when she turned him away.

Blackburn magistrates heard Kyle Carter started banging on the windows and shouted that if his mum called the police he would slit her throat.

Carter, 18, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour on Monday.

He was made subject to a community order for six months with 10 days rehabilitation activity requirement and 36 hours attendance centre requirement. He was also ordered to pay an £85 victim surcharge and made subject to a restraining order which prohibits him from having contact with his mum and her partner for six months.

Parveen Akhtar, prosecuting, said the defendant's mum and step-dad had returned home to find the defendant on the doorstep of her property in Priory Court Burnley, with his suitcase.

"He said he wanted to leave his belongings there but his mum said he didn't live there anymore," said Miss Akhtar.

"They quickly got inside and locked the door, hoping he would go away, but he didn't. He started banging on the window with his fists and shouting through the letter box. He made a threat to slit his mum's throat if she called the police."

Miss Akhtar said Carter's behaviour frightened his family.

"He appeared to be under the influence of drink or drugs and they just wanted him to go away," said Miss Akhtar.

Stuart Kaufman, defending, said his client had been quite badly bullied at school which had left him with issues.

"He has very real feelings of abandonment," said Mr Kaufman.
