Emergency services were called to two cars that had been deliberately set on fire in a residential close.

At around 2.20am on Wednesday, firefighters attended the incident in Pendle Close, Bacup, and found both cars to be alight on a shared driveway.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "Crews used one breathing apparatus and two hose reels to extinguish the fire and were at the scene for thirty minutes.

"One car was destroyed and the other was left partially damaged.

"The fire is thought to be of suspicious origin and is now being treated as arson."

An joint investigation is now underway with the police to determine how the fire was started.
