POLICE have warned about the possibility of more fighting in a village.

Last Friday a teenager was left seriously injured after being hit with a baseball bat during a mass brawl in Skipton Road, Barnoldswick.

A number of teenagers were involved in the fight which is thought to have been pre-planned.

Now police are warning of the possibility of further disorder in the wake of comments on social media.

Officers have set up increased patrols in the area and warned parents to keep an eye on their children.

Sgt Tim Hitchen said: "It has been brought to our attention via various social media sites, that there may be potential for disorder again this weekend in the West Craven area.

"We are unsure at this stage whether this is just talk of retaliation or whether it has some substance. In view of this, there will be extra mobile and foot patrols in the West Craven area over the whole of the weekend, to provide both reassurances to the community and to be able to deal with any issues should they arise.

"Please feel free to speak to the officers should you have any information regarding those involved in last week’s disorder or alternatively, any information about what may be occurring this weekend.

"We would ask that all parents with children of teenage years, to be mindful of where your children are and what they may be involved in. We shall deal robustly with any disorder and those participating will be liable to arrest in order to investigate an offence or to prevent an offence occurring."
