THIS stunning natural phenomenon was spotted by a Lancashire Telegraph Camera Club member in her back garden.
Julie Cropper was delighted to come across the ice spike at her home in Kiln House Way, Oswaldtwistle.
She said: "I am keen amateur photographer and like to take photographs of anything that takes my eye.
"Whilst having a wander around my back garden on Kiln House Way, Oswaldtwistle on the evening of Monday with camera in hand, I came across this naturally formed ice spike sticking up out of a tray of frozen water.
"The ice spike was just less than two inches tall.
"I just thought it looked quite interesting and unusual so decided to take a few photographs of it.
"I then posted one of the photographs online into a few photography Facebook groups that I am a member of.
"I got a reply back from one of them with a link to Wikipedia which explained what it was.
"As it was something that I had never seen or heard of before I had no idea what a rare phenomenon a naturally formed ice spike is and how lucky I was to see and photograph one.
"I now feel quite privileged to have seen this and been able to photograph it."
