A NEW sustainable recycled t-shirt is being launched by fashion house Boohoo today.
The online giant, which employs hundreds at its factory in Burnley, has created the cotton and polyester mix garment from salvaged waste cuttings.
This is then shredded and blended with recycled plastic bottles to produce a cotton yarn.
Carole Kane, chief executive, said: "The recycled tees are just the first step to creating a sustainable offering to our consumer."
Online clothing retailers have come under fire for the waste generated by cheap 'fast fashion' items, which are bought cheap, worn a handful of times and discarded.
The new t-shirts, in black or white with recycled packaging, which bear the logo 'Offical/Repeat', are expected to retail for £10.
