A FAMILY feud ended with a man attacking his sister's car with a brick and causing £500 worth of damage.

Blackburn magistrates heard Thomas Andrew Stanley warned his sister what he would do if she didn't stop hitting him and then did exactly that when she hit him again.

Stanley, 27, of Clod Lane, Haslingden, pleaded guilty to damaging a car belonging to Jenifer Stanley.

He was remanded on bail for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

Parveen Akhtar, prosecuting, said Barry Stanley, the defendant's father, reported arguments within the family.

He said things came to a head when Stanley turned up at the family home and was told by his dad he couldn't come in.

"He said he wanted his property and asked for some money," said Miss Akhtar.

"He was told to wait until his mother came home and she would discuss money with him."

Miss Akhtar said Stanley tried to force his way into the house but Jenifer Stanley assisted her dad to keep him out and they then heard the sound of breaking glass and her car had been damaged.

"His dad says he is sick of walking on eggshells around his son," said Miss Akhtar.

Jonathan Taylor, defending, said his client had been staying at the family home and had paid to stay there for at least the next two weeks.

"When he was told he couldn't stay he wanted his money back," said Mr Taylor.

"The family refused and that was when the argument escalated."

Mr Taylor said the defendant's sister came down and started attacking him.

"He said he wasn't going to hit her but if she hit him one more time he would damage her car," said Mr Taylor.
