A dentist has shared images of a 91-year-old with all of his own teeth.

Dr Khalid Master of Bank View Smile Studios in Blackburn said he was impressed but not surprised that the World War Two veteran still had all his natural teeth in perfect working order.

Jack Williamson served with the Royal Navy and was posted on the HMS Patroclus.

He was a dental assistant and dental technician assisting fellow sailors.

Jack has been visiting the dental practice based on Preston New Road since 1964.

Khalid posted, “This lovely gentleman is Jack Williamson.

“He is 91 years young and he has all his own teeth, which are all firm and still going strong.

“He is one of our longest standing patients first attending over 54 years ago and he still attends his dental appointments regularly whilst implicitly following our oral hygiene instructions between visits.

“Bravo Jack.”

Amanda Stodart-hall posted, “Ahh my lovely Grandad.

“He was a dental technician during the war in the Navy so he really knows all about teeth.”

Khalid told us today, "One of the reasons for Mr Williamson's dental success is that he is very meticulous with his dental cleaning at home.

“Although he only uses a manual toothbrush, he has a regular routine which includes cleaning between the teeth with floss, which is arguably even more important that cleaning the visible surfaces.

“Jack also tells me that he ‘likes to eat a lot of vegetables’ which are obviously low in sugar and acid, which have preserved his tooth enamel for so many years.

“He has no partial dentures or bridges.

“Jack is not alone in reaching a mature age with all his teeth intact, we do have a dozen or so patients who are in their eighties and have all their own teeth but Mr Williamson is the oldest.”

The current practice owners; Khalid Master and Thomas Sarpong took over the Dentist from Timothy J Holt in February 2010.

Tim had worked at the practice for over 30 years. He took over from Mr Michael Monk, who in turn had bought the practice from Mr Henry Dellow.

Khalid said, “The practice is the oldest and longest established in the region as it dates from 1906 and our distinguished predecessors had spent their whole careers at the practice before they handed over to the next generation.

“As such we are privileged to care for third and even fourth generation patients.”

Mr Williamson said he ate a lot of vegetables and cleaned his teeth twice a day with just a ‘regular’ tooth brush.

He said, “I always follow the instructions and always floss.”
