A player was sent off for an alleged racist incident during an amateur football match this weekend.

The game between Euro Garages and Clayton Park Rangers was taking place at Pleasington Playing Fields in Blackburn on Saturday.

A player is alleged to have told an Asian player from Euro Garages to “Shut up, you f****** curry muncher".

In a complaint seen by Asian Image and sent to the anti-racism group Kick It Out, a statement reads, “During the second half of the game, a Clayton Park Rangers was having a competitive duel with a Euro Garages in the central midfield area. Both players were sledging one another as you'd expect during a competitive 11 a side game.

“However, then the player (of Clayton Park Rangers) said, "Shut up, you f****** curry muncher".

The referee is believed to have heard the remark and sent the player off. The Euro Garages player asked to be subbed off the pitch immediately after the incident and no longer wanted to continue playing.

The Lancashire Football Association (LFA) said, “We can confirm we are aware of the incident in question, and it is being investigated, as is the procedure of all complaints we receive.”

The Blackburn Combination League said they could not comment at this time due to an ongoing LFA compliant.

Clayton Park Rangers have been contacted for a comment.

Kick it Out have been approached for comment.
